Dr. Rafael Arenas Quintana
Dr. Arenas, an extremely talented plastic surgeon has become one of the most prominent plastic surgeons not only in Guadalajara but in all of Mexico. He’s been an attending physician at Hospital INNOVARE since its doors first opened. He completed his post-graduate training in surgery and plastic surgery at the IMSS CENTRO MEDICO DE OCCIDENTE in Guadalajara. He went on to further specialize in San Francisco, CA and in Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. Arenas is certified by the Mexican Association of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has been part of Chapala Med’s network of specialists since its inception and has set the bar for the criteria by which Chapala Med selects its specialists. Dr. Lopez Guerra, is a board certified specialist in Otolaryngology with sub-specialty training in Laryngeal Surgery. He is currently a surgeon at Vocalia ® ENT and Voice Center, located inside Hospital Puerta de Hierro Sur, in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Fellowship trained at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA and former faculty member and Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Lopez Guerra is a published author and presenter on innovative treatments of voice disorders in leading medical journals and book chapters.
His clinical interests include laryngeal cancer and dysplasia, recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), performing and professional voice, vocal cord paralysis, vocal fold polyps and nodules, spasmodic dysphonia and functional surgery of the nose and throat.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and an active member of the American Broncho-Esophagological Association (ABEA), The Voice Foundation, American Laryngological Association Fellow Candidate (ALA), and American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAOHNS).
After eight years in Boston, Dr. Lopez Guerra returns to his hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco to be able to provide his patients here with the same diagnostic and surgical skills that improve quality-of-life and treatment options for patients with voice, ear, nose and throat disorders.

Dr. José Haro Fernández is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. Gynecologist and Oncologist
Dr. Moreno is Chapala Med’s Gynecologist. He has been an attending and head of Gynecological Oncology at Guadalajara’s Menchaca Civil Hospital. He specializes in breast cancer surgery, breast pathology, colposcopy and gynecological oncology.
Dr. Moreno graduated at the top of his class during his post-graduate training at the IMSS Centro Medico De Occidente.
His talent as a surgeon and high level of academic training exemplify the level of professionalism that Chapala Med seeks in its network of specialists.

Dr. José Ernesto Ledesma González
Dr. Ledesma is a neurosurgeon with a subspecialty in “Endovascular Neurosurgery”, endorsed by the Eneri Institute, Dr. Pedro Lylyk, and the Iberolationoamericana Society of Neuroradiology SILAN. Scholarship 2009/2010.
He fellowed in “Cerebrovascular Surgery and Base of the skull” at the University of Washington School of Medicine. In February 2009 he obtained certification as a specialist in Neurological Surgery by the Mexican Council of Neurological Surgery BC.
He is a graduate of the specialty in Neurosurgery at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery Manuel Velasco Suárez. He distinguished himself at the Institute during his training as a specialist, where he conducted Neurosurgical research. At the same time, he conducted scientific research applied to the neurosciences jointly at the Institute and the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Nutrition.
His alma mater is the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in General Medicine.

Dr. Juan Garrido Camel
Dr. Juan Alberto Garrido Camel is an Ophthalmology specialist with a Master’s degree in Management and Administration of Hospitals and Health Systems from Olmeca University. He completed his medical surgeon degree at the Universidad Atónoma de Guadalajara and received his specialty in Ophthalmology from the Medical Center of Western Specialties.
Over his more than 30 years experience, Dr. Garrido has attended more than 100 training and academic update events at both the national and international level. He is a member of over 10 Mexican and international societies including the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He held the position of Vice President of the Tabasco State College of Ophthalmologists.
He is currently the Medical Director of the Puerta de Hierro Sur Medical Center responsible for ensuring the best possible experience for patients at the 48 bed facility. Prior to this he was an associate professor at the Universidad Atónoma de Guadalajara, Tabasco campus, and the representative for the state of Tabasco on the Mexican Council of Ophthalmology.
